Inspired by the opening scene of Andrei Khrzhanovsky’s 1972 animation The Armoire and Berthe Morisot’s painting The Artist’s Sister at a Window, a half-surreal city of Addis Ababa shape-shifts and fractures outside a window. Made using my footage taken of the city over the last ten years combined with hand-drawn stop motion animation, this documentary-style film essay contemplates the accelerated fever for urban transformation.
