Min Addis Ale?
[excerpt/stills]
16mm / 2 Part - Projection / Silent / 4 mins / 2016.
This is my first film. It is a precedence to what has been made since. Taking cues from One-Way Street by Walter Benjamin and filmmaker Jonas Mekas' Notebook, I make a non-narrative 2-part "book." Two projectors go back and forth between footage of my time in Addis Ababa from 2014-2018 and my studio in New Haven. A hubbub of streets, signs, monuments, fragments, and gardens, I push to find a language of montage that can speak to a thoroughfare both disorienting and familiar.
